HISTORY
We SAVED the Horse Farm!

In October of 2005, news broke  that the UL Horse Farm was on the table for a land swap and was slated for commercial development.  Immediately, a community-wide campaign sprung into action and worked tirelessly for over seven years to bring elected officials, ULL administrators, community leaders, and other stakeholders to the table to discuss alternatives to development. For more information about the campaign and how we got to this point, please visit savethehorsefarm.com.

With much celebration, in July 2012, the property was finally signed over from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to Lafayette Consolidated Government, for the explicit use as a passive park for all of Acadiana to enjoy.  The Community Foundation of Acadiana has been selected to coordinate the development of a separate non-profit foundation to oversee major fundraising, design and development proposals, and to select the Director who will over see the day-to-day operations at the park.
